Prague Airport to City Centre 2026

Choose by where you are actually staying, not by whichever vehicle leaves first. Trolleybus 59 is the default public-transport route for many central-Prague trips because it reaches Nádraží Veleslavín in about 15 minutes and connects directly with Metro A. Bus 100 reaches Zličín in about 18 minutes and connects with Metro B, which can be better for addresses on the western or south-western side of the centre.

Airport Express, usually shown as AE, is a different product: it runs directly between the airport and Praha hlavní nádraží, Prague's main railway station. It is useful when the station itself is your destination or you are continuing by long-distance train, but ordinary Prague PID tickets are not valid on AE.

Prague Airport lists the 59 trolleybus journey to Nádraží Veleslavín at approximately 15 minutes. From there, change to Metro A for stops including Malostranská, Staroměstská, Můstek and Muzeum. PID's airport guidance estimates roughly 35 minutes to the city centre when the connection works normally, but your hotel may add another tram, metro or walking leg.

For the airport-to-centre trip, PID explicitly points travellers to the 90-minute ticket rather than the 30-minute ticket. In the 2026 tariff the full-fare 90-minute ticket costs 46 CZK in the PID Lítačka app or 50 CZK as a paper ticket. Keep the same valid transfer ticket when changing from trolleybus to metro; do not buy a new ticket simply because you changed vehicles.

Bus 100 runs from the airport to Zličín, where Metro B begins. Prague Airport gives the bus leg as about 18 minutes. PID's airport information puts the wider journey to the city centre at around 45 minutes, so this route is usually chosen for geography rather than because it is universally faster.

The normal Prague tariff applies. A 90-minute ticket gives useful transfer margin for most central destinations; if your final address requires a longer chain of connections, search the exact route before activating the ticket. The PID Lítačka app is useful for both route planning and the cheaper app fare.

Airport Express is the simplest public option when you specifically want Praha hlavní nádraží. Prague Airport describes the journey as roughly 40 minutes. The 2026 AE full fare is 200 CZK, and standard Prague integrated-transport tickets are not valid on this service.

AE is designed for airport and railway passengers and has space for larger luggage. No advance reservation is required according to the airport's guidance, so compare the next AE departure with the 59-plus-metro route rather than assuming the direct bus will always get you to the centre first.

When daytime metro connections are no longer the practical option, Prague Airport lists night bus lines 907 and 910. Both serve central-Prague corridors; the airport gives an approximate 45-minute journey to the city centre. The useful line depends on your exact stop, so search the live connection instead of treating either night route as a door-to-door airport shuttle.

Night travel is one reason to save your accommodation address and route offline before the flight. A delayed arrival can also change which ticket or connection makes sense, so re-run the official journey planner after landing when necessary.

A paper Prague ticket that requires validation is stamped once, at the start of the first journey; its time validity then continues across eligible transfers. Re-validating it can invalidate the journey record. In the PID Lítačka app, make sure the ticket is active before entering the paid area or boarding, allowing for the app's activation rules.

Each passenger needs an appropriate valid ticket. Keep Airport Express separate in your planning because it has its own fare. If you expect to use public transport repeatedly after check-in, compare a 24-hour or 72-hour ticket before buying several singles.
