Prague Christmas Market Dates 2026

As of 2 September 2026, Prague City Tourism lists the Old Town Square Christmas Market from 28 November 2026 to 6 January 2027 and the Wenceslas Square Christmas Market for the same dates. Wenceslas Square is listed with daily hours of 10:00 to 22:00.

The Náměstí Míru Christmas Market starts earlier, from 20 November to 24 December 2026, with listed hours of 10:00 to 20:00. Náměstí Republiky runs from 25 November to 24 December 2026. These different calendars matter if you are visiting in late November or staying through New Year.

Old Town Square is the obvious first choice when you want the classic Prague setting. Prague City Tourism describes it as one of the country's largest and most visited holiday events, with Czech products, food, a Christmas tree and a daily cultural programme in the historic centre.

Its popularity is also the reason to plan around crowds. Visit the square as one stop in an Old Town walk rather than crossing the city only for the market, and keep timed attractions separate enough that a busy pedestrian route does not make you late.

Wenceslas Square's 2026 market occupies the lower part of the square and continues through Three Kings Day on 6 January 2027. Its 10:00-22:00 listed hours make it easy to combine with the National Museum area, shopping streets or an evening walk back toward the Old Town.

Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square are close enough to form one central route for many visitors. Use the CzechiaPilot map or Nearby view to fill the walk with places that match your interests instead of creating a day made only of market stalls.

If you arrive before 28 November, do not assume there are no Christmas markets yet. Náměstí Míru begins on 20 November and Náměstí Republiky on 25 November according to the city's tourism listings. Both finish on 24 December, unlike Old Town and Wenceslas Square, which continue into January.

Náměstí Míru is particularly easy to combine with Vinohrady cafés and neighbourhood walks. Náměstí Republiky sits beside the historic centre and is convenient for the Municipal House and Powder Gate area. Check the live event listing again on the day for programme changes or operational notices.

A market date alone does not guarantee that every museum, shop or restaurant around it follows the same hours. In Czechia, Christmas Eve and the Christmas public holidays have their own opening patterns, and individual attractions can shorten hours independently.

If you are staying after New Year, the Old Town and Wenceslas markets remain listed through 6 January 2027. That makes an early-January Prague trip materially different from a late-November visit, when only the earlier markets may be operating.

Choose one or two market areas for a day, then add nearby architecture, viewpoints, museums or neighbourhood stops. This reduces backtracking and gives you indoor alternatives if the weather turns wet or very cold.
