Prague Castle Tickets & Closures 2026

As reviewed on 2 September 2026, Prague Castle's official ticket page still links its English price list valid from 1 March 2024. That price list sets the Prague Castle Main circuit at 450 CZK for an adult, 300 CZK for the listed discount category and 950 CZK for a qualifying family ticket.

The Main circuit covers the Old Royal Palace, St George's Basilica, Golden Lane and St Vitus Cathedral. The same official price list states that tickets are valid for two days, each Castle building can be entered only once and purchased tickets cannot be refunded. Because the Castle can change prices, use the official ticket page as the final check before purchase rather than treating a search-result snippet as a guarantee.

During the summer tourist season from 1 April to 31 October, the Prague Castle complex is normally open from 06:00 to 22:00, while the historical buildings are normally open 09:00-17:00. St Vitus Cathedral is normally open Monday-Saturday 09:00-17:00 and Sunday 12:00-17:00, with last entry at 16:40.

The Great South Tower normally runs 10:00-18:00 in summer, with last entry at 17:30. Gardens have their own seasonal schedule, so a late-evening walk through the wider complex does not mean every paid interior or garden remains open until 22:00.

From 1 November to 31 March, the Castle complex itself remains normally open 06:00-22:00, but historical buildings normally close at 16:00. St Vitus Cathedral is normally 09:00-16:00 Monday-Saturday and 12:00-16:00 Sunday, with last entry at 15:40.

The Great South Tower normally runs 10:00-17:00 in winter, with last entry at 16:30. The Royal Garden, Stag Moat and South Gardens are closed from November through February under the published seasonal schedule, while the Garden on the Bastion has a different timetable.

The official closure notice published for 4 September-1 October 2026 says the Old Royal Palace will be closed to normal public visits through that period. One important exception is the Czech Crown Jewels exhibition in Vladislav Hall: it is listed as free to the public from 19 to 28 September, after school-only days from 15 to 18 September.

The same notice changes St Vitus Cathedral hours on several dates: 5 September opens 12:30-17:00; 14 September is closed all day including the Great South Tower; 16 September opens 12:30-17:00; 28 September opens 12:00-16:00; and the morning of 29 September is listed for closure with timing to be specified. South Garden access is also restricted around the Crown Jewels exhibition.

Prague Castle is the seat of the Czech head of state as well as a major visitor site. Its own price-list terms reserve the right to close historical buildings or the whole area for operational or state-ceremonial reasons. Cathedral access can also change for liturgical events.

That means a good itinerary treats the normal opening hours as a baseline, then rechecks current closures shortly before the visit. Decide first whether you want the paid Main circuit, the wider grounds, a tower view or a specific exhibition. Then work backwards from the earliest closing component, not from the 22:00 complex closing time. Sunday visitors should especially account for the later normal cathedral opening.
